FINALLY!
Yea! I have been trying for 8 years (since my son was born) to grow sunflowers in my yard. Keep in mind that I do have gardening in my blood. My Grandmother, Mother, sisters, and aunts all have incredible gardens.
So you can imagine my frustration over the years when my big seedlings, so lovingly nurtured, get eaten up in one night by rabbits and deer. Ahh! But not this year! I out-smarted them all!
FINALLY- my first sunflower! Isn't she beautiful!
Have a wonderful sunny weekend!

Last day of summer.....
Looking now through my child's eyes this day was bitter sweet. We did all the things on HIS list- Cleveland Museum of Art, lunch in Little Italy, cut through Lakeview Cemetery on the way home, play with cars, have 2 desserts with dinner, meet Sammy at the pool after dinner, 1/2 hour of Looney Tunes before bed. Whew! I'm beat!
But I feel truly blessed that despite being involuntarily unemployed for the first summer in over 20 years, I think I made a difference this summer. Not in the surface design world (my old life), but in the world of one little family, one little boy. Mike & I will toast this summer of 2009- this summer of change and challenge.

RobinsEggBlue on Artfire
I've heard alot of good things about Artfire lately ( a site where you can buy & sell handmade goods)- so I just posted a few of my smaller novelty pieces there. I'm a loyal Etsian though- I've had my shops there since the very beginning- April 2006. I'll try this though- free to sell up to 12 items, or a flat $12 per month for unlimited sales. I'll keep you all posted. Artfire doesn't seem as easy to navigate as Etsy- check me out here on Artfire!

Flea Market Find- Little Japanese WWII Souveniers
Aren't they cute? I found these wee guys at a flea market- less than 3/4" tall. They're WWII Japanese souveniers. I drilled little holes & attached the eye for hanging.
I have no idea what I'll do with these- but I LOVE them!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

More Frozen Charlottes & Watch Parts in Store
There's more in store! Mike was up half the night listing new goodies in his BigDaddyO shop. More mini Frozen Charlottes (these are undamaged & going quick).......
German bisque doll parts............
an assortment of pocket watch parts.......
more of these really detailed pocket watch parts........
and of course more vintage watchmaker's tins full of grungy goodies.
You can find them here. I love working with these dolls & watch parts- the possibilities are endless- mixed media, collage, jewelry......
Now I'm off to finish the paper mache we started yesterday with the kids- a terrible mess but what fun! We're also making junk sculptures for the garden.
Have a fun Thursday!

I'm Back Home!
I'm finally back! I feel rested, content, and focused....I read books, played outside, and spent time with the family. We all had a great time. I had time to reflect on my own career path, which has come to a fork in the road. I know which turn to take- you'll all just have to wait & see! It's a risk I have to take- life is just too short.
In the meantime, to my delight, I'm currently featured in 2 Etsy Treasuries. This first one, "red letter day" by artwink, features some very interesting finds- inluding my Birdcage Earrings. I'm usually not a red person, but this list really appeals to me.
This second list "A taste..." by Sewingdreamsnotions features yummy raspberry & honey inspired design- including my earrings.
Thank you both for including me in your Treasuries. It's always an honor!
Stay tuned for more this week. We'll be listing more mini-frozen charlottes, matryoshka beads, fun vintage finds, and of course old watch parts.
For my friend patiently waiting for more bird ladies- I swear I haven't forgotten about you! They are sitting on my drawing table staring at me waiting for clothes!
And finally, my 30% off bag sale is still going on in my Etsy shop.
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
